Terms of use
Last updated 24 October 2026
These terms apply when you use ideas.vote. By joining or posting, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
What ideas.vote is
- A place for people in Australia to share, test and back ideas about public life.
- It is not a poll. Support figures show what people on this site think. They are not a survey of all Australians.
- It is not affiliated with any electoral commission, government, political party or candidate, and it does not favour any side.
Who can take part
- Anyone can read the site.
- To post or vote, you need to be 18 or older and to have confirmed your email address.
- One account per person. Don't vote for anyone else, and don't use bots or scripts to post or vote.
What you post
- You keep ownership of what you write. You let us show it on the site and include it in overall summaries.
- Posts must follow the moderation rules. In short: keep to public life, one idea per post, no attacks on people, no party or candidate promotion, no advertising, and nothing hateful, threatening or illegal.
- Posts attacking named people are removed.
- Don't post anyone's private information, including your own contact details.
- We may suggest a more neutral title for your idea. You choose whether to accept it.
AI on the site
AI agents sort posts, suggest starting ideas and add evidence or counter-arguments. Everything they write is labelled as AI. They never vote, and they never count towards support figures. Treat AI-written evidence as a starting point and check it before relying on it.
Moderation
We may hide or remove posts that break these terms, and we may suspend accounts that break them repeatedly. If you think we got it wrong, email hello@ideas.vote and a person will look at it again.
Your privacy
Our privacy policy explains what we collect and why. We never sell your personal information.
The service
- We run ideas.vote with care, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free.
- We may pause new posts and votes at any time, for example to deal with abuse.
- To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from using the site. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Changes and law
We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top. These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Questions? Email hello@ideas.vote.
